Help ensure business continuity with reliable SONET service.
Synchronous Optical NETwork (SONET) acts as a fast network backbone over which ultrahigh-speed, high-volume voice, video and data applications are run. SONET networks are often installed in the form of self-healing rings using dual fiber-optic strands. This construction provides fast, survivable transport over Verizon's extensive SONET network.
Verizon offers three SONET services to meet the changing and growing needs of businesses with multiple sites:
Dedicated SONET Ring (DSR) Service - can act as a transport path for many different high-speed applications.
Dedicated Wavelength Ring (DWR) Service - allows customers to add and drop various services or channels at each location.
SONET Optical Point to Point Service - provides a dedicated, optical communications service with a SONET handoff.
When your connection carries important, time-sensitive content, the answer is a dedicated, facilities-based SONET network from Verizon.
Survivability
Verizon SONET is installed over a resilient, dual-fiber ring architecture.
Reliability
Verizon SONET provides highly available and reliable service.
Competitive Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Verizon SONET is backed by stringent SLAs.
Fully Managed Verizon Solution
Dedicated SONET Ring (DSR) service is proactively monitored 24x7; where available, we offer an optional Customer Service Management (CSM) feature, which provides detailed, real-time views of network performance.
Fully Dedicated Service
Both the facilities and Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM) nodes are fully dedicated.
Multi-Service Platform
DSR facilitates network convergence by providing the ability to bundle a variety of interfaces on one fiber backbone (IP and TDM).
Cost-Effectiveness
Verizon offers flexible bandwidth and pricing options with term discount plans.
Scalability
Verizon SONET can meet your current and future bandwidth requirements with no forklift upgrades required.
Verizon Dedicated SONET Ring (DSR)
A robust and highly survivable optical networking solution, DSR is secure enough to transport your mission-critical voice, data, and video applications, and powerful enough to handle enhanced Ethernet solutions for high-bandwidth LAN/WAN and SAN connectivity.
A resilient, dedicated ring architecture
Structurally sound with redundancy to help you avoid loss of services.
Dual-fiber, dedicated ring architecture is designed to have no single point of failure to protect all of your applications.
We provide 24x7 monitoring and support
Our network is backed by competitive Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that offer service credits for affected network elements.
Flexibility
Facilitates network convergence by providing the ability to bundle a variety of interfaces on one fiber backbone (IP and TDM).
Can carry traditional voice, data, and video applications, plus enhanced next-generation SONET interfaces such as Ethernet, Direct DS-1 access, and Trans-Multiplexing.
Ethernet transport makes LAN-to-MAN-to-WAN connectivity seamless
Native Ethernet circuits terminate directly on the Ethernet port, requiring no TM conversion.
Scalable and cost-effective
Can meet your current and future bandwidth requirements with no forklift upgrades required.
We also offer flexible bandwidth and pricing options with term discount plans.
DSR is available at OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, and OC-192 bandwidths.
Available TDM interfaces include DS-1/DS-3, OC-3/3c, OC-12/12c, and OC-48/48c.
DSR for GigE interfaces available include GigE1 (50 Mbps), GigE3 (150 Mbps), GigE6 (300 Mbps), GigE9 (450 Mbps), GigE12 (600 Mbps), and GigE24 (1000 Mbps), Fibre Channel (1 Gbps) and FICON (1 Gbps).
Verizon Dedicated Wavelength Ring (DWR)
This resilient optical transport service delivers more robust transport networks and increased operational efficiency. By transporting high-speed data protocols over a single fiber pair, DWR meets your demand for a scalable, converged network.
Single point-of-contact with a fully managed solution
We'll design a network solution based on your needs
We can manage the entire installation process for you
We provide 24x7 network support through our nationwide Network Operation Centers.
With no costly capital outlays for the service, you can implement the converged network you need while still controlling costs.
Supports a full-range of applications
Mirror mainframe data
Connect LANs and MANs
Build a video network
Extend your Storage Area Network
Access a variety of optical interfaces, protocols, and bandwidths - all from one network
solution.
Efficient, high-bandwidth transport
We use Layer 1 transport technologies -- DWDM and Ultra-Long haul (ULH) DWDM -- that allow protocol-independent transport over a single fiber pair, and eliminate the need for layered networks.
Ring architecture operates as a single network, letting you easily add and drop channels at each of your locations.
DWR also supports a broad range of protocols, with bandwidths ranging from 8 Mbps to 10 Gbps.
You can provision each channel with different types of protection, depending on your network requirements.
